Instapaper, a popular service which allows you to save Web pages for offline reading, finally has an official Android app.
While Instapaper for Android isn't perfectly identical to its iOS counterpart, the basics are the same.
All you have to do is save the Web pages you want to read while you still have a Wi-Fi or 3G connection. Later on — when you're on an airplane, train, or other place without Internet connectivity — you'll be able to peruse all those saved pages...
The app automatically downloads a "mostly-text version of each page" and formats things for maximum readability. It also has layouts "built specifically for small tablets like Kindle Fire and Nook Color, large tablets like the Motorola Xoom as well as most Android phones running 2.1 (Eclair) and up."
You can download Instapaper for Android from Google Play — formerly known as the Android Market — for three bucks right now. It will soon be available through the Amazon Appstore and the Nook Market as well.
