iOS 6 untethered jailbreak progress teases fans

It looks like the quest to jailbreak iOS 6 with a fully functioning untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 is moving along quite nicely. So far, the feat hasn’t been achieved, but we do have some developments to tell you about which suggest that it could not be far away.

We told you last week that the well known iOS hacker known as Pod2g had distanced himself from the untethered jailbreak project, but he has since changed his mind after providing some interesting details after the recent jailbreak conference, which took place a few days ago.

According to a new statement on his Twitter account however, he is now working on the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak, adding that they have already ‘found some stuff’ but it will still be a long process before anything is finalized. That doesn’t mean to say that Pod2g is the only developer working on the jailbreak.

A new face appears to have entered the scene over the last week, a developer going by the name of ‘Like a Sir’. The user has sent out a series of very interesting Tweets, revealing to excited iOS owners that an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5 can be achieved by using a modded version of Redsn0w. Even better, he is also claiming that the jailbreak will be ‘ready to go’ within a matter of days.

Will you trust this relatively unknown developer though, or still hold on for an untethered jailbreak from one of the popular jailbreak teams? What you definitely don’t want to do though is head into one of the various scams that are going around – claiming to offer an iPhone 5 untethered jailbreak in return for money.

We told you recently how one website was offering an untethered jailbreak for $25, and now it appears another one by the name of ‘jailbreakiOS6.org’ is at it as well. This new website says that they’ll be able to provide an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5 and other devices for $20, but stay clear of this at all costs as it has been confirmed to be a scam and doesn’t work.
Are you waiting to gain access to Cydia on your iPhone 5? Let us know if you have spotted any other dubious websites, claiming to offer jailbreak software for cash.
