Trying to predict what version of the iPhone Apple will release next has been pretty simple in the past, but what they did with the iPad last year has certainly confused matters. As always there are a huge number of rumors circulating, with many of them wondering if Apple will release the iPhone 5S or 6 this year, but the smart money would be on the former still.
Most predictions suggest that Apple needs to release the iPhone 6 in 2013 because a radical change is needed, and this could still happen later this year. We say this because there have been several rumors to suggest that Apple will release more than one smartphone this year, with one of them being a cheaper model.
However, we still believe that Apple will release the iPhone 5S because of a couple of factors. The first is because Apple always releases an interim model and the second is that iOS 7 cannot handle the new specs of the iPhone 6, so would need to wait until iOS 8 is released.
According to an analyst Apple was going to release the iPhone 6 later this year, but it seems as though iOS 7 is not ready for the larger form factor and the switch to a 20 nm processor. This is certainly an interesting notion, but we have to take this and the multitude of other rumors with a grain of salt.
So we know that Apple will update their mobile OS this year, so it was interesting to discuss some of the needed iOS 7 features, such as a UI change and out wishlist. The concept video was pretty awesome to help illustrate the process behind showing you this concept UI.
If we were to put out money where our mouths were, then we would suggest the release date for the next iPhone would still be in September, anything sooner is just rushing things a little. However, we expect the iOS 7 download to begin a week or so before that date, let’s just hope that we don’t have to pay the price for those new specs, as we know Apple still has constant battery issues with their iPhones.
