If you’re upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy S4
later this month, but you’re worried you may have to give up some of
your tweaks and custom ROMs until it gets rooted, then worry no more.
The eight-core Exynos 5 Octa version of the device has already been
rooted before it even goes on sale.
The
root comes courtesy of the fine folks at the XDA Developers forum, who
have published a short rooting guide for those who would like to perform
the hack themselves as soon as they have their new device in their
hands. This is considered an “experimental” root at the moment, however,
so it’s not recommended for novice hackers.
And just to make it clear, this root is for the Exynos 5 Octa Galaxy S4 with the GT-I9500
model number — not the other model with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600
processor, which will need another rooting process. Unfortunately, most
markets won’t see the first model, at least initially.
If you do
choose to root your Galaxy S4 as soon as you get it, you do so at your
own risk. As this is an experimental root, there’s a chance things could
go wrong and that you could end up with a very shiny, very expensive
paper weight.
If that doesn’t put you off, check out the source link below for the information you’ll need to get started.
