Android Luxury Vertu Ti Announced, Costs $9,600 - $19,900

Vertu's first Android smartphone, the Vertu Ti, has been officially announced, with the device's price starting at $9,600.

Previously, the device's leak suggested that it would be priced at $4,070. The Vertu Ti, which is manufactured by Nokia, boasts a luxurious design in order to warrant its price tag. Its display is covered with sapphire glass, while its body is made out of titanium.

The Vertu Ti's price starts at $9,600 for the black leather version, as seen above. The cost of a "Pure Black" model is $11,500, while a "Black Alligator" option will set consumers back $12,800. The most expensive of the range is a "Titanium Red Gold Mixed Metals" variant that costs $19,900. The specifications of each model stay the same, with only the materials being pricier.

Vertu's head of design, Hutch Hutchison, stressed that the only material that can scratch sapphire glass is a diamond. The device itself will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, accompanied by a 3.7-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

The dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor is clocked at 1.5 GHz, joined by a 1,250 mAh battery, a rear 8-megapixel camera on the back that's capable of 1080p video capture, a front-facing 1.2-megapixel snapper and 64 GB of storage.
