It was just a couple of days ago when we reported
that Microsoft will finally put an end to the Scroogled campaign
(obviously, the reference of the name itself does point towards an
anti-Google theme), but apparently reports of those were greatly
exaggerated. According to Microsoft, “Scroogled will go on as long as
Google keeps Scroogling people.” Now that is a pretty strong statement
to make, and it sticks in the mind like super glue.
Word has it that the software giant was extremely pleased with how
the previous two chapters of its Scroogled campaign went, that they are
gearing themselves up for yet another chapter. The Scroogle campaign
kicked off originally, hoping to achieve the objective of getting users
to drop Gmail and settle for Outlook.com instead, touting that Google
actually scans users’ e-mails in order to determine relevant
advertisements that are placed alongside the messages.
All in all, it
does seem that this healthy competition is good for the end user, as we
get to see both companies remain on their toes to deliver the best
experience possible at all times.
