4 Ways to Identify if your Android Phone is Rooted ~ Hightech-IT

Rooting is a process on Android devices that gives you administrator permissions. A few of the Android apps need permission to access few areas of Linux (Android is based on Linux).
This process of providing permission for accessing Linux is called rooting. Certain areas of Linux are not permissible to access. So, one has to have special privileges over controlling such areas of Linux. Administrative permission is necessary to get access to them. Such a process of getting access is done with the help of SuperUser.
SuperUser can be added to the Android device with the help of adding “su”, a small Linux application. “su” means SuperUser. This user has access to all the Linux kernels and hence can handle anything from system back up to blocking software.
If one wants an app to be run on the Android platform, then may be that particular app might need rooting. The app might work only if some parts of Linux are available.

[1]. Simplest Way – Check for Superuser App

The simplest way to identify if the phone is rooted is to check for the SuperUser. In the list of applications displayed on the Android, if one can find the icon for SuperUser, then the phone is rooted. The icon will be in skull shape.

Root checker is a handy app developed for android users to check rooting status of their phone. This is very simple and quick method to identify if your phone is rooted.

In your phone download Root checker app from Google Play , PC users can get it from here
Go to app drawer and look for newly installed root checker app, tap on it to run

Note: If you get super user app prompt, asking for permission then allow it.

If the sign # (pound) is prompted then the Android device is rooted
If the sign $ (dollar) is prompted on the screen then it is not rooted

Another method to identify if the phone is rooted can be from the following steps :

Launch Google Play app, and Search for Terminal Emulator app. If you are using pc download the app Terminal Emulator from here
Click install, which will download the application to the Android device
Click on the icon Terminal Emulator, which was downloaded
This will pop a screen on the Linux command prompt
On this command prompt screen, if one sees “#” then it is rooted
If the symbol is “$”, then the device is probably not rooted
Recheck with typing “su” on the screen, after typing “su”, press on the enter button
If the command prompt changes to “#” from “$” then the phone is rooted, If the command prompt does not change then the phone is not rooted
