It’s a strategic move from Amazon to launch the Cloud Player for iPhone and iPod Touch amidst the squarely competition with iTunes. It gives you further step for alternatives – Amazon Music Store and the Cloud Player app. It allows you to stream create playlist and download music stored on your device.
For the music freaks, the sweet deal
gives you access to audio files from the Amazon servers and music store.
Customers can choose an upgrade from the basic 5GB plan to the 20 GB
and higher plans, Amazon upgrades to unlimited music storage on the
Amazon cloud.
The new software is a magnet to iOS users,
as we all know Amazon Cloud Player app was first made available on
Android devices. There is not much that’s surprising or groundbreaking
on the app. The features are similar with its Android version, but the
music efforts for special storage deals are attractive.
This new music vault is an alternative to iTunes
ecosystem aesthetically designed much of Kindle app for iOS. You know
how it looks like, with dark grays, blacks, a shade of orange in the
text-based menu.
The player’s skin is simple with a
typical album artwork and offering basic controls like shuffle and
repeat. You can access the controls on thelock screen or the
multitasking menu when playing the songs, similar with other iOS music
app.
However, as of this writing, Amazon Cloud Player
is only available for US residents. The iOS app is available in
the App Store for free. So if you do not yet have an Amazon account, you
can sign up for free.
Amazon is stepping forward to Music Store. Who knows? One day, they could probably offer the Amazon AppStore on iOS
devices. Personally, I think this app player is similar with Spotify
and other music apps. The launch of the app is also a direct challenge
to Apple and Google.
