Tuesday, August 14, 2012: Since the launch of Apple's 38.1-cm (15-inch) MacBook Pro with Retina display, there have been reports about a 33-cm (13-inch) version of the device. Now, a report by MacRumours says that the 33-cm (13-inch) version of the Macbook Pro with Retina display will come on 12 September 2012. According to the report, “The iPhone 5 release date is reportedly scheduled by the end of September, but apart from the long-rumored smartphone and the mythical 7-inch iPad, the date might also include the launch of the smaller Retina MacBook Pro 2012 with 13-inch HD display.”
The report explained that the MacBookPro10.2 was discovered in a Geekbench results database. The model number suggested that it could in fact be the 33-cm (13-inch) variant of the MacBook Pro with Retina display, as the 38.1-cm (15-inch) model that is already available in the market features the MacBookPro10.1 identifier.
Explaining further, the report said a couple of days back another entry featuring the MacBookPro10.2 identifier was discovered in the database result. Both the entries shared a lot of resemblances and the second entry had some minor changes.
“Like the machine that appeared first, the new machine runs a 2.9 GHz Core i7-3520M, the same processor found in the current high-end model of the non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro. The machine's motherboard identifier also matches the previous machine, which itself matched a previously unaccounted for identifier seen in early developer builds of OS X Mountain Lion. And as would be expected for machines running the same specs, the two machines have very similar Geekbench scores of roughly 7800,” according to the report.
