Samsung is targeting to pose threat to the much talked about Apple's iPhone 5 Mini by with its Galaxy SIII Mini by the end of this year, that too at a cheaper price.
Thursday, August 23, 2012: Korea-based Samsung has taken the court room battle with Apple a tad too seriously and is looking forward to launch its Galaxy SIII Mini and a Galaxy S II Plus by the end of the year, which might prove fatal to Apple's iPhone 5, which is slated for a 12 September launch. Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini is expected to feature a 10.2-cm (4-inch) Super AMOLED display, which is just 2-cm (0.8-inch) smaller than the screen of Galaxy S III.
The mini version of Samsung Galaxy S III will sport a 5 megapixel camera and will include a dual-core processor under its hood. Rumours have it that the Galaxy SIII Mini would be functionally comparable to the iPhone 5 but would cost about $500 less. According to a TechRadar report, J Gold Associates analyst Jack Gold told the website over the phone that the Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini is certainly a possibility.
"Well, considering the iPhone 5 isn't even out yet, and everyone's already talking about it," Gold said in the report. "There are two things that Samsung obviously needs to worry about," Gold continued. "One is the hype cycle - so no matter what they would come out with, you know, does it get blown away by the Apple hype cycle? And the second one is: if they come out with something that's not - even if they come out before Apple - that isn't competitive with the iPhone 5, then it's not going to be looked at. Not very well,” he added.
