Bloop-bloop: Facebook is Testing Notification Sounds

You've got likes!

Facebook hardly ever rolls out a new feature to all of its users at once. Even if the feature is a sure thing, the company usually rolls it out in stages. However, this goes double for features the company is just testing out. Apparently Facebook's most recent experiment involves audible notifications. That is, whenever that little red flag pops up on your Facebook page, it's going to make a noise.

Facebook confirmed that it was testing this new feature to VentureBeat's Sean Ludwig. Ludwig was apparently lucky enough to make it into the test group. He promptly figured out a way to turn off these notification sounds. Turning them off is relatively easy, provided you know your way around Facebook's settings. Ludwig writes that the off switch can be accessed via 'Notifications' under Account Settings. "Click 'View' on the top tab and then uncheck the box that says 'Play a sound when each new notification is received,'" he writes.

Though Facebook confirmed to VentureBeat that it's testing out the new feature, the company didn't elaborate on future plans for audio notifications.
