Hewlett-Packard is offering Black Friday deals on its top-of-the-line ultrabooks.
Hewlett-Packard is offering decent Black Friday deals on some of its premier Windows 8 laptops.
And the company has announced shipment dates for a couple of its newest touch-screen entries.
HP's Spectre and Spectre XT models are its top-of-the-line lappies. While just-announced Spectres got tiny discounts, a couple of not-so-recent entries are selling for $100 off today.
All of the Spectre models feature Intel's newest Ivy Bridge processors and 64-bit Windows 8.
The Spectre XT Ultrabook 13-2150nr is on sale today for $900, $100 off the regular $1,000 price.
The 3-pound ultrabook features a third-generation Intel i5-3317U Ivy Bridge processor; 4GB of memory; a 13.3-inch, 1,366x768 display; a 128GB solid-state drive; and 64-bit Windows 8.
Announced back in January (and HP's first Spectre model), the Spectre Ultrabook 14-3210nr has been knocked down to $1,300 from $1,400. It comes with an all-glass display (front and back Gorilla glass), an Intel i5-3317U chip, a high-resolution 14-inch "Radiance" 1,600x900 display, 4GB of memory, a 128GB SSD, and 64-bit Windows 8.
HP is also finally listing solid shipment dates for two of its newest Windows 8 touch-screen portables. The Spectre XT TouchSmart is, as of today, showing a shipment date of December 7.
While the Envy x2 is listed as shipping December 21.
The Spectre XT TouchSmart sports a 15.6-inch 1,600x900 touch-capable display, an Intel i7-3517U processor, and a 500GB hard disk drive with a 32GB solid-state drive cache.
The Envy x2 is a very different creature. It's a small 11-inch laptop-tablet hybrid that can function as a standalone tablet or a regular laptop (when attached to its magnetic-connector base). It comes with an Intel z2760 system-on-a-chip power-efficient processor; 2GB of memory; a 64GB SSD; and an 11.6-inch, 1,366x768 display.
And Dell is doing some Black Friday deals on at least one high-end ultrabook. The XPS 13 Ultrabook is priced at $800, off $150 from its regular $950 price.
Note that this is the older Intel Sandy Bridge processor-based model, though. The newer Ivy Bridge XPS 13 is not on sale.
