Facebook Preparing To Launch Video Ads Within News Feeds By April 2013

It’s 2013, which means you probably have a Facebook page and have come across a few ads during your time with the social network of choice for anyone with a pulse. As of now, the ads haven’t been too intrusive as the majority of them are tucked away to the side of your news feed, with a few leaking into your feed due to a friend “Liking” an ad. Apparently these ads are going to become more animated as Facebook is looking to ad video ads to your news feed.

According to a report, Facebook is getting ready to announce their new video-ad product by April of next year that will attempt to bring in ad revenue from TV advertisers right into your news feed. The video ads will not only be available on the desktop version of the site, but will also make their way to mobile devices and tablets.

As of now, Facebook is looking to display 15 second video ads instead of the traditional 30 second ads we’re used to seeing between shows on television. If you’re a user of online streaming services such as Hulu, you know just how quick a 15 second ad can be, which leads us to believe this move may not be that big of a deal as long as the videos don’t autoplay or take our attention away from seeing how fat our exes have gotten over the years.
