Microsoft and its Surface tablets have raised a couple of eyebrows,
some of which belong to hardware manufacturer. Not so long ago Acer’s
CEO JT Wang urged Microsoft to think twice because “it will create a
huge negative impact for the ecosystem and other brands may take a
negative reaction. It is not something you are good at…” Another Acer
executive, Campbell Kan, president of personal computer global
operations, wondered whether the company should “still rely on
Microsoft, or should we find other alternatives?”
Acer has been removed from the list of Microsoft Windows RT device
makers but a spokesperson said that “Acer plans to incorporate Windows
RT into our product roadmap, but we have not yet confirmed the timing of
our product launches”. Of course, at the moment, details about the
Surface tablets’ pricing are unknown if you disregard the rumors, as are
details concerning the exact list of hardware makers in line for
Windows 8-powered tablets.
