Facebook for Android native app gains voice messages

Facebook has updated its native Android app to allow users to send voice messages, shortly after the feature first appeared on the Facebook Messenger app.

"Just tap '+' next to the box where you write a message, then tap 'Record' and hold down the record button to talk.  When you're ready to send, just release the button," Facebook explains, on how to use the new feature.

The small update also includes faster opening of photos and the ability to share your friends' stories to timelines and pages.

Facebook has been creatively tinkering with its voice features over the last month to make messaging easier for its users. Earlier this week the company rolled out free voice calling over Wi-Fi and cellular data within its Messenger app for users in the US and Canada.

No word on when the iPhone app will be updated, but if you're on Android, you can grab the update from Google Play.

Would you rather send a voice or text message?
